Helping Tesco create a distinctive point of view on food

A need for a distinctive point of view to drive growth and customer connection

The challenge

Tesco wanted to sharpen its point of view on food as part of its wider growth ambitions. The team wanted a more distinctive positioning, reflecting food’s place at the heart of the business and its role in driving emotional connection with customers.

What we did

We combined customer, competitor and market insight to identify potential territories to explore. Through rapid development and customer testing, we refined the strongest direction, defined the positioning and supporting principles, and worked with Marketing teams to embed the new thinking across the marketing mix.

The outcome

A clearer point of view on food, rooted in Tesco’s unique understanding of the UK’s relationship with food. It gives the business a clear focus to align behind, helping teams communicate confidently and consistently, and guiding decisions around product development and prioritisation.

Here's what Tesco said about working with us

The Blue Feathers team are brilliant. We worked with them on a high pressure, high pace and complex strategic piece and they were excellent – rigorous, high quality thinking and outputs, responsive, supportive and absolute experts in their field.
